dish’d – A yummy review with a giveaway

This product talk review is brought to you by Nuffnang and dish’d.

When I had the opportunity to try out a gourmet range of frozen foods from the recently launched dish’d, I couldn’t believe my luck. It had come at just the right moment as this time of year for our family is so busy. There are school Christmas activities, Christmas shopping and the ever important writing of the Santa lists! Amongst all of this and more, I struggle a bit with organising our meals for during the week and would quite happily have eggs on toast for three nights running. The kids however would be like ” Muuum, this again. Can’t you cook something else, pleeaassee”.dish’d had come to my rescue!

If you haven’t heard of dish’d before well I will tell you a little bit about it. dish’d is a provider of high quality frozen meal solutions, available to experience online. Thoughtfully created by reputable chefs from around the world and at dish’d, they believe it starts with sourcing the best ingredients and respecting them to curate the most delicious meal solutions for the busy you.

Their website is easy to use, and there is a whole range of delicious meals. I was a bit unsure of what the meals would be like, but they aren’t your average supermarket frozen meals. The range of dish’d meals over delivers on taste by tapping into reputable chefs one of them being Jacques Reymond. They also source the best ingredients. dish’d are high quality meals and desserts, yes desserts! All meals are frozen to retain their nutritional and taste credentials, waiting to be enjoyed… when you are.

Last week came upon us, and it was one of those weeks. I think we all have those weeks, don’t we? I hadn’t organised anything for dinner, so I thought this was the perfect time to order some dish’d meals. I jumped on to their website and started to look at all the yummy choices. It was so hard to decide what to order. I was probably looking for at least half an hour before I decided on what I could add to the basket. I ended up planning our dinner menu for four nights which was fantastic. I felt some relief already knowing that our meals were done for most of the week. I placed my order in the afternoon on a Tuesday. I received an email saying the order had been confirmed. I then received a text message on Wednesday morning saying that my order is on board for delivery today. My order was delivered just before lunch. It was fantastic that I ordered it all online, and it was delivered to my door the next day.

Your order comes in a cool box with dry ice, so it stays frozen. If you are not home to unpack it, it will stay frozen until you get home. The website has instructions on how to handle the dry ice. You can find the delivery information here.

The whole family thoroughly enjoyed each and every meal for the four nights. The instructions were easy to follow on the packets and everything was easy to prepare. The Lamb fillets were delicious, and the Beef mince contained only a small amount of fat. There was probably just over half a tablespoon of liquid in the bottom of the meat loaf pan after cooking it. We were very happy with the quality of all the dish’d meal products and the range that they provided. At the end of each day, I felt relaxed knowing that I had a meal in the freezer ready to go and all I needed to do was heat it up and maybe add a few extra things. The stress level for me at dinner time was down to zero.

Recipe type: Sweet treat
Serves: 10
Ingredients
  • 200gms Well Naturally No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate Melts
  • 45 gms marshmallows, roughly chopped
  • 50 gms dried cranberries
  • 50 gms macadamia nuts, roughly chopped
Instructions
  1. Line a small square baking tin with baking paper.
  2. I used the microwave method to melt the chocolate. Melt in a microwave container and microwave for periods of 30 seconds on 50% power until it is almost melted. Make sure you stir the chocolate after each 30 seconds. Be careful not to overdo it, so remove the chocolate when it's mostly melted and stir to melt the rest.
  3. Add all of the other ingredients and stir until it's all combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into the baking tin and place it aside to let it set or you can place it in the fridge to set for 20 minutes.
  5. Enjoy!

I love using dark chocolate for making rocky road. And now having found the Well Naturally No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate melts that means I can make rocky road more often and eat loads more!  I like knowing that in some of the baking that I do there is less sugar in the ingredients. I try to reduce the sugar content in most of my recipes when I can. I think it is better for you and better for the kids.

Now I know there is another recipe that I can use these yummy Well Naturally No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate melts. My Cranberry Cashew Clusters! The melts will be perfect for these choccie treats.

What is your favourite recipe that uses chocolate melts?

Don’t forget I am giving away 2 x Well Naturally No Sugar Added Chocolate packs worth $35 each. You can head over to here to enter the competition.

Enjoy some choccie goodness!

Well Naturally Chocolate Review And A Giveaway!

Mmmm, chocolate! I love chocolate.

Well, our whole family loves chocolate. Our cupboard always has a handful of chocolate in it somewhere.

We don’t eat too much though as don’t forget it’s better for you in moderation. So you can imagine I was very excited when I was asked to do a product talk on Well Naturally No Sugar Added chocolate. I went YAY!! Chocolate, we love and with no added sugar even better, right!

The Well Naturally No Sugar Added range is made without any added sugar. There are no artificial sweeteners or “secret sugars” like agave syrup or fruit concentrates. Instead, they use Stevia to sweeten their products. Stevia is a natural, plant-based sweetener that is around 300 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia has no calories and no impact on blood sugar levels.

chocolatereview1

We received our lovely bag of goodies and couldn’t wait to get stuck into it all.

I rallied around all of my taste testers and sat them down at the table to try a piece from each block of chocolate. I was wondering how we would go eating a chocolate with no added sugar in it, but the kids were all ready to give it a go.

chocolatereview3

So after everyone indulged, here is the verdict:

Milk Chocolate fruit and nut: everyone loved! Nice amount of fruit and nuts and a nice creamy taste.

Milk Chocolate creamy milk: the 6, 9 and 11 yr old enjoyed eating this. The 16 yr old didn’t enjoy it as much as the fruit and nut. Hubby and I weren’t too keen on it either. It was still a creamy chocolate but not a favourite.

Dark Chocolate acai: the 6 yr old didn’t like this as she doesn’t like dark chocolate as much as milk. The 9 and 11 yr old enjoyed this and said it was very nice. Hubby wasn’t too keen on it either. I loved it. I could have eaten the whole block. I love dark chocolate. It was nice and smooth. A great dark chocolate.

Dark Chocolate mint crisp: I didn’t try this one as I am not much of a mint fan. Everyone else enjoyed it though and said that it was nice and minty.

Dark Chocolate rich dark: The kids didn’t like this one as much as the others. I think they like dark chocolate when it has something in it such as the bits of mint crisp! Hubby and I liked this chocolate. It was nice and smooth. There was no after-taste left in your mouth that I know some dark chocolates can leave a residue.

chocolatereview5

After eating and trying the Well Naturally No Sugar Added Chocolate range, we were all quite surprised that it was still a great tasting chocolate. It’s nice to know that you can still enjoy a yummy chocolate snack without all of that added sugar.

Did you know that some Australians are consuming far more sugar than is necessary? It’s in the fruit juice that we have for breakfast, our pasta sauce at lunch, and sometimes in our sweet afternoon treat. Well Naturallys mission is to help consumers reduce their sugar intake, thereby increasing their overall health and wellbeing, whilst still being able to indulge in their favourite snack.

Breakfast With Uncle Tobys

*This is a Nuffnang product talk for Uncle Tobys Quick Sachet Oats (all opinions and text are my own)uncletobysFrom Monday to Friday every morning is chaotic in our house. The kids wake up at 6.00am, and that’s when our day starts. There is packing lunch boxes, making everyone’s breakfast, getting dressed, brushing teeth and combing hair. Sometimes everything runs smoothly, and I even get to sit down and eat breakfast with them. But there are days when it seems like the clock is in fast forward mode, and it’s all go go go! When those days come about, I wish we had a quick and easy breakfast that the kids could make themselves.uncletobys1I was given some Uncle Tobys Oats Quick Sachets to try and I am so glad we gave them a go. They are a convenient and tasty oats options, perfect for busy individuals and families. The kids got their bowls and spoons out. They grabbed a sachet of quick oats, cut the top off and poured the oats into a bowl. They poured some milk in, gave it a stir and popped them in the microwave on high for 90 seconds. Once done, the kids gave them another mix and allowed to cool before digging in. We all found them easy to prepare and mess free. uncletobys2uncletobys3The kids really loved them and wanted to go back for a second bowl. They have a great fruity taste and have no artificial colours or flavours. Great for our chaotic mornings!

Uncle Tobys also asked us to explore what our idea of a dream/ideal morning would be. We decided to have a little fun and make a couple of videos.

This is what our dream morning would look like when having breakfast:
