In The Garden… Winter is here

violet parsley strawberry leavesWinter has started to creep in over the past couple of mornings. It is very cold when heading out the door to take the kids to school. A few times we have had to put the coats on. This morning I even put my scarf on, brrrrr!

I have noticed the garden has been changing this week. Our fruit trees are letting go of their last clump of leaves. The plants are starting to slow down with new growth and deciding what they should do now that winter has sprung.

  • the wild violets are starting to flower and have just sprouted from the ground. They seem to die off in summer then pick back up again when we have some rain and sunshine.
  • the parsley just keeps on growing. The poor lettuce that was trying to grow has been over run by parsley.
  • the wild alpine strawberries we have growing between rocks has started to bloom with little flowers. The kids enjoy eating these as they are really sweet.
  • the sun was coming up and the light was lovely shining through this tree. All the leaves are starting to go orange.

What has been happening in your garden? Do you have any flowers that are opening?

Don’t forget you can join in with In The Garden and share your garden or someone else’s. It could be the garden down the road or the park that you have in your town. You don’t have to have a veggie garden. It could be plants that are flowering or trees that are growing. It could be planted in the ground, containers or bins.

I would love to see what you have in any garden. All you need to do to join, is add your link at the end of this post and we can pop on over and have a look.

Happy gardening and enjoy your weekend x
