The Hack
The Hack, a recently renovated old building, has a nice vibe, with an open main area at the front, an area behind the central bar, a function room, and of course, outside tables.
We started with an Espresso martini, and a glass of Pinot Noir while deciding what to order. Jamie the barman suggested the “set menu” so we get to taste a variety from the menu.
Smoked hot Wings and beer batter pickles arrived first. They were presented well on a cool tray. The pickles were great, nice combo of flavours. A great smokey flavour thru the chicken wings, with a bit of heat. You could quite happily order a tray of these and work your way through the Hacks beer list, or get a beer board! Yummo!
The plate of main meats was served with Potato salad and a gem heart salad. The smokey smell and distinctive taste from the meats were fantastic. A great capsicum and cheese flavour from the smoked pork sausages. The smoked brisket, smoked whole hog, and the beef short rib was all so tasty and tender. A great selection of meat to accompany the beer board.
Sweets were a Beeramisu (why not, the Hack brews their own beer!), and an Eton Mess!
The Hack is a great place to check out. We’d be happy to visit again.
Note: We dined as guests of The Hack. Thank you to The Hack for their generous hospitality at the time of our visit.
